Jeff Bezos, worth $148bn, becomes world’s most overpaid Instagram boyfriend
The wealthy Jeff Bezos was spotted taking pictures of his alleged partner, Lauren Sanchez, while they were sailing on their new yacht in Italy. This action earned him the title of being the most excessively compensated "Instagram boyfriend" globally.
According to reports, the couple, who have previously announced their engagement in May, went on a trip to Portofino, Italy on Monday. The DailyMail shared pictures of the couple boarding Bezos' superyacht, Koru, which is rumored to have an estimated worth of $500 million.
During their time on the spacious and extravagant vessel, Bezos donned a dark-colored top and swim shorts featuring a blend of various shades. Meanwhile, his significant other, with whom he has been involved for half a decade, sported a two-piece black bathing suit, complemented by corresponding shades to protect her eyes from the sun.
The individual who established Amazon and has a net worth exceeding $148 billion, took some time to act as Sanchez's personal camera person. While resting against the metal railing of the boat, the 53-year-old seemed to model in front of their partner's iPhone.
While pointing his camera at Sanchez and the deck of the boat, the founder of Blue Origin leaned backwards in order to get the best shots of his companion.
The DailyMail shared another image of the couple where the 59-year-old person gave his phone to Sanchez, probably to show her how the photography session went.
A Twitter user commented on the couple's photos saying that the man is an "Instagram boyfriend." Another individual found it humorous that even one of the richest men in the world has to take numerous photos of his significant other until she's satisfied with the angle and lighting.
"Somebody else joked that they will include this moment on their vision board," while another person described the behavior of the couple as the standard for a perfect relationship.
According to a report in The Atlantic, Kaitlyn Tiffany discussed on the Why’d You Push That Button? podcast that an Instagram boyfriend or husband is someone who is not seen in any of your Instagram pictures, but is the person actually taking them.
The pair came to Italy on a helicopter and boarded a yacht called Koru. The yacht has a support vessel called a shadow boat, which Sanchez and Bezos landed on. The super yacht is said to be valued at over $75 million.
According to reports, the pair was accompanied by Sanchez's three children while they vacationed in Portofino. Sanchez, who used to be a news anchor, had Nikko with former NFL player Tony Gonzalez and has two other children, Evan and Eleanor, with her former partner Patrick Whitesell.
In the meantime, Bezos has a former partner named MacKenzie Scott with whom he had been married for 25 years. Bezos has three sons and one daughter from this marriage. The couple prefers to keep their children's lives out of the public eye and only the name of their eldest son, Preston, has been disclosed to the public.
The news broke out last month that Bezos and Sanchez had decided to tie the knot after being together for five years. The buzz around their engagement circulated while they were on their maiden voyage on Bezos' luxurious yacht. The proposal apparently took place during their visit to Cannes, France while they were attending the Cannes Film Festival.
Sanchez gave a possible indication of her engagement through her Instagram Story on May 25th. She posted a picture of herself on the trip and added a message in the caption stating: "Fun times in Cannes 2023."
After a few days, Bezos' followers were fast to ridicule him following reports that he had splurged over $4,000 on a wine bottle over the period of his engagement's weekend.
As per reports from People, Bezos had paid $4,285 for a bottle of Dugat-Py Grand Cru from Domaine Bernard which was not on the menu during his time at La Petite Maison in Cannes, France. However, the New York Post claims that the same wine had been sold at auction back in March 2022 for just $647. This means Bezos may have spent over $3,500 extra for the same bottle of wine.
Sanchez revealed the challenges of being in a public relationship with Bezos in an interview with WSJ Magazine five months prior to their engagement being reported.
The journalist stated that due to her association with the business owner, she had to modify her approach to disclosing details and keeping confidential information under wraps.
"It's difficult for me because I'm naturally a candid person. I enjoy speaking and revealing everything about myself," she explained, but then went on to say, "Now I understand that it's not always appropriate to do so."
Additionally, she mentioned that she constantly factors in the importance of safeguarding her privacy and refraining from sharing sensitive information.
She expressed her desire to freely share everything with everybody and have them as her friends. She shared that she has acquired the skill of not disclosing her whereabouts. She can no longer post the same things on Instagram as she did before. She now needs to exercise more restraint and be more guarded, which she finds acceptable.
