Blood in the bathtub: 7.5 million Baby Shark toys recalled due to horrific injuries | Boing Boing

Product recall

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is advising against allowing children to play with the Robo Alive Junior Baby Shark Sing & Swim Bath Toy. This is due to the fact that the manufacturer has recalled 7.5 million of these toys that may appear sweet and innocent but can be dangerous. The reason for the recall is that there have been 12 reports of children experiencing injuries such as lacerations, puncture wounds, and impaired areas in the genital, anorectal, and facial regions after falling or sitting on the toy's sharp dorsal fin. Nine of these incidents even resulted in children needing medical attention or stitches.

If you have purchased the affected bath toys, do not keep using them! Instead, reach out to Zuru to request a refund. Full-size bath toys can be returned for $14 while mini-size bath toys are accepted for $6. To confirm your refund, simply use the free virtual Mastercard provided by Zuru. To make sure the affected toys are not used again, cut off the tail fin on the full-size tools or bend it on the mini-size toys. Next, write the word "recalled" and the unique registration code given during your recall registration on the shark's body. Once done, take a photo of the toy that shows it is marked, and upload it to https://www.recallrtr.com/bathshark. Once Zuru verifies the picture submitted, they will grant your refund.
