Over 7M Baby Shark, Mini Baby Shark bath toys recalled by Zuru due to risk of impalement to children

Product recall

"7-inch Toy With Hard Plastic Top Fin & 3 Grooves"

Zuru, a manufacturer of toys, has taken back a whopping seven million bath toys, Baby Shark and Mini Baby Shark, because of the possible danger of injuries from the hard plastic top fins. Kids may suffer cuts, punctures or worse, impalement.

The company announced a recall last Thursday (June 22) as a precautionary measure. Their full-sized bath toys, which are shaped like a Baby Shark and intended for children, are designed to sing and swim when submerged in water.

The plaything consists of a robust plastic fin that tops it and has three indented lines on one side. It stretches about seven inches from one end to the other. It was available in a set of three colors, namely yellow, pink, and blue, all of which came in packets of three.

You can spot tracking tags on the underside of the playthings. The tags have embossed letters indicating the code "25282" and a date stamp starting with "DG" followed by the full year, month, and day in two digits.

Mini Baby Shark bath toys have the ability to swim once submerged in water. However, it differs from the regular-sized toy as it does not produce any singing sound.

The fish-shaped toys have a fin on top made of tough plastic material. The length of the fin is around four inches, spanning from the head to the tail. These toys were available for purchase in three colors- pink, blue, and yellow.

In contrast to the larger version, the mini size was available for purchase singly, in sets of two or three, as a component of the Baby Shark Music Water Park playset.

The bath toys that were called back are small and have details on the bottom. They have letters and numbers that specify the model such as "7163," "7175," "7166," or "25291." Additionally, they have a unique date code that starts with the letters "DG" and is followed by the entire year, two-digit month, and two-digit day. The date range for the recalled toys is DG2020615 through DG2023525.

The business advises its clients to discontinue the use of the bath toys that have been recalled and reach out to them for a complete reimbursement. A sum of $14 will be refunded for every regular-sized bath toy and $6 for every mini-size bath toy. The refund will be made in the form of a prepaid virtual Mastercard.

Zuru has acknowledged that there have been 12 instances where children sustained injuries, cuts, and punctures after falling or sitting on the Baby Shark bath toys, which have now been recalled. These injuries included those to sensitive areas such as the genitals, anus, and face of the children.

Out of the total 12 occurrences, nine necessitated the need for medical attention or stitching. The Mini Baby Shark bath toys did not cause any accidents or harm.
