Powell Live: Economy & Inflation Discussion

On Friday morning, Jerome Powell, the Federal Reserve Chairman, will speak about the economy and inflation. He will give his remarks at the Thomas Laubach Research Conference.

Prices went up 0.4% last month and 4.9% over the year. This is the lowest inflation rate we've seen since April 2021. The government has been trying to lower inflation by raising interest rates.

A new poll from Gallup came out on Thursday. It says that 61 percent of people think the rising prices are causing them some financial trouble. This is 6 points higher than the last time they did the poll in November. Out of that 61 percent, 15 percent of people say their hardship is really severe.
