Viterra In Merger Talks With Bunge

Glencore

Viterra and Bunge are talking about merging. A person who knows about this says it's true.

It's not sure if Viterra, co-owned by Glencore, can come to a deal. A source shared this but wished to remain anonymous. The talks are secretive.

On Thursday, Bunge's stock was worth $92.89 per share. This means the company was valued at around $14 billion.

In 2017, Viterra tried to take over Bunge. Bunge is a big name in global grain trading. At the time, Bunge was worth $11 billion. Viterra used to be called Glencore Agriculture. It made the news because the takeover didn't work out.

In May 2017, Glencore asked to have a chat with Bunge about mixing their businesses. Bunge said no, thanks.

Glencore wanted to review its interest in Viterra to find ways to make more money.

Glencore, Viterra, and Bunge didn't say anything about it. Bloomberg was the first to report that Viterra and Bunge were talking. (Other people also helped with reporting, including Deep Vakil, Gus Trompiz, Clara Denina, and Karl Plume.)
