PM: Prevent Wildfires, Combat Heatwaves

Vietnam

The Prime Minister wants more action to prevent wildfires. Heatwaves are making things worse. Many places are in danger of wildfires.

The Prime Minister sent a message to leaders of different departments stating that some parts of the north, center and southwest parts of the country are experiencing extreme heat with temperatures as high as 40 degrees Celsius.

Some places have forest fires, like Hoa Binh, Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau, Quang Nam, and Lam Dong. This is causing big problems and damage. The report says this.

The PM wants to stop wildfires and make them less bad. They asked the leaders of cities and provinces to be in charge. It's up to them to do the work in their area.

He says we should inspect and supervise wildfire prevention and consider it very important. He wants local leaders to check their equipment and forces and make a plan for wildfire prevention and control.

The leader said that forces must work hard during dry and hot times.

He said it's important for areas to train forest rangers. This is for managing forests and preventing fires. They also need to communicate better with the public to increase awareness.

The PM said people need to watch the weather and wildfire alerts. If they see a fire, they should tell the Forest Protection Department under MARD.

MARD oversees wildfire prevention and control nationwide. National Defence and Public Security review plans in their local areas and can help with firefighting. They have equipment and forces ready to go if needed.

The quality of weather forecasts will be ensured by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. The Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Finance will help fund the project. The MARD will also be involved.

The Ministry of Information and Communications along with Vietnam Television, Radio The Voice of Vietnam, Vietnam News Agency, and other media agencies will carry on their communication duties, according to a dispatch from VNS.
