Bud Light Sales Still Decline

People are still angry at Bud Light. They are angry for saying negative things about craft beer. Craft beer fans are upset with Bud Light. There seems to be no end in sight for this controversy.

Bud Light sales dropped a lot. According to Nielsen data for the week ending May 13, sales fell 24.6%. This is worse than last week's fall of 23.6% for the period ending May 6. Anheuser-Busch InBev makes Bud Light.

The volumes decreased a lot. Last week it was 28.4%, while the week before was 27.7%.

Yahoo Finance's Brooke DiPalma wrote that the drop in sales began when Dylan Mulvaney, a transgender influencer, posted an endorsement of the light beer during March Madness basketball.

After April 1, ABInBev saw less people buying Bud Light. This continued into May. When Kid Rock made a video on April 3, less people started buying because lots of people who supported him started boycotting.

Alissa Heinerscheid was Bud Light's Vice President of Marketing. She left the company in April. It was amid a controversy.

ABInBev's diverse beer collection is still affected by the current situation.

For the week ending May 13, Nielsen discovered Michelob Ultra's volume went down 6.8%, Budweiser dropped 14.9%, and Natural Light fell 8.5%.

Bud Light's trends have stayed the same for another week. This shows that things have stabilized in the market, but ABI still has lower levels than before. Robert Ottenstein, an analyst, shared this info with clients. The rest of ABI's products have improved a bit but not as much. This means that the boycott on ABI's products is still happening.

Other companies are quickly taking advantage of the problems facing Budweiser.

Heineken will use $100 million to promote a new light beer, Heineken Silver. Executives revealed the plan in a Reuters interview on Tuesday. As part of the campaign, the company will hand out two million free beer samples to consumers in 2021.
