An elderly resident of Victoria expressed his excitement at winning a lottery prize worth $500,000, stating that he can now look forward to a more carefree and relaxed future.

According to an official announcement made by the B.C. Lottery Corporation, Charles "Vince" Martin emerged victorious in the June 10 Lotto 6/49 draw. He achieved this feat by purchasing a winning ticket from the Rexall drugstore located on Admirals Road in View Royal.

The person living in Victoria was collecting their groceries when they made the spontaneous decision to verify their tickets using a self-scanner. To their astonishment, one of the tickets turned out to be a victorious one, as reported by the BCLC.

"I had to gaze at it for a couple of minutes to fully comprehend," Martin remarked. "Afterwards, I asked the lady at the counter to verify it in order to ensure its authenticity."

According to the statement, Martin's initial disclosure was made to his spouse, who was left in disbelief.

"It didn't click and she believed I was joking with her initially," Martin stated.

The man from Victoria enjoys indulging in leisurely activities such as reading and exploring the scenic Olympic Peninsula. Presently, he intends to assist his children and undertake home improvement projects for his residence.

"It's an incredible sensation, and I haven't had a restful night's sleep ever since," he remarked.

The BCLC intends to mark his lottery victory by organizing a pleasant meal gathering.

According to Martin, it will provide a greater level of comfort in terms of feeling at ease and not having to fret about minor details.

In the year 2023, it has been reported by the lottery corporation that individuals participating in B.C. lotteries have successfully claimed prizes exceeding $59 million from the popular Lotto 6/49 game.
