Meyer Werft Floats Out Carnival Jubilee

Carnival Cruise Line

Meyer Werft, a shipbuilding company based in Germany, has launched its newest construction, a massive cruise ship with a gross tonnage of 183,200 for Carnival Cruise Line.

Carnival Jubilee was moved out of the enclosed construction facility on Friday and docked at a pier within the shipyard harbor to undergo outfitting. The following day, the ship temporarily departed from the pier to conduct trials on its bow thrusters and stabilizers.

The ship classified by RINA measures 344.5 meters in length, accommodating a total of 5,228 individuals in 2,626 cabins designated for passengers. Moreover, it can also house 1,551 crew members. This magnificent vessel consists of 20 levels and even features a thrilling roller coaster for entertainment onboard.

The ship that was initially commissioned by AIDA Cruises, a brand of Carnival Corp, was later assigned to Carnival Cruise Line in 2021. This marks the first occasion where a ship design was transferred between the Finnish shipyards Meyer Turku and Meyer Werft, both of which are affiliated with the Meyer Group.

Carnival Jubilee, similar to its sister ships Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration, which were produced by Meyer Turku in 2020 and 2022, has a green liquefied natural gas (LNG) engine system that produces minimal emissions. The vessel is equipped with a remarkable 61.8 MW of engine power and 37 MW of propulsion power.

Set to arrive by the conclusion of this year, Carnival Jubilee is planned to be put into action for voyages in the Caribbean that depart from the Port of Galveston in Texas.
