Dow Futures Up Before Holiday

On Sunday evening, the U.S. stock futures were up. This was just before the Memorial Day public holiday. The major benchmark averages had a good week. This was despite ongoing debt ceiling negotiations. The closely watched data was better than expected.

At 7:05pm ET (11:05pm GMT), the stocks increased by 0.3%. Additionally, they were raised by 0.4% and added 0.6%.

Investors will watch for PMIs and data this week. They will also closely listen to FOMC member speeches and the Fed's remarks. The aim is to analyze the data front.

On Friday, the stock market went up by 1%. The Dow Jones gained 328.7 points and reached 33,093.4. The S&P 500 added 54.2 points and went up by 1.3% to 4,205.4. The Nasdaq gained 277.6 points and increased by 2.2% to 12,975.7.

Rates on the bond markets hit 3.81%.
