Boulder County-area cone zones for Sept. 4-9

Boulder County

The Hill Hotel on Westbound Pleasant Street has some traffic changes in place. The section from Broadway to the alley is still accessible for local traffic, but unfortunately, the eastbound lane is temporarily closed. This closure is necessary for the demolition of old buildings, as well as the installation of a new waterline and sewer system. The construction work is scheduled to take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays. It is expected to continue until January 31st, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.

• The construction of the brand new Limelight Hotel and conference center will lead to changes in traffic flow. Specifically, a one-way road will be created on 13th Street from University to Grandview and on Grandview from 13th to Broadway. During this period, parking will not be available in these areas. In addition, for the creation of a turn lane on Broadway, the northbound lanes will be temporarily closed. Two-lane traffic will be redirected to the southbound lane. The construction activity will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. and is expected to continue until January 1st.

The Colorado Department of Transportation is currently building the Firestone-Longmont Mobility Hub near the junction of Interstate 25 and Colo. 119. Construction will primarily take place between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. from Monday to Friday, with some work happening overnight. Motorists should be prepared for occasional lane closures on Colo. 119 and I-25, as well as closures of on- and off-ramps. Additionally, there will be restrictions on the southbound I-25 on-ramp and northbound off-ramp at Exit 240, with lanes limited to 11 feet in width. From Tuesday to Thursday, between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m., construction teams will be adjusting the alignment of the off-ramps in both the southbound and northbound directions. During this time, temporary closures will affect the I-25 off-ramps at Exit 240, Colo. 119, and the southbound I-25 main line. The project is expected to be completed by August 2024.

Construction is currently underway on Longs Peak Avenue as part of the Price Park Tank Replacement Project. This extensive project, which will span over 18 months, aims to enhance the quality and availability of water services in the city. The eastbound and westbound lanes of Longs Peak Avenue have been temporarily altered to run alongside each other on the southern side of the road, between Sunset Street and the entrance to the Sunset Golf Course. As a result, access to Price Park is currently restricted, and parking in the Sunset Golf Course and Pool parking lot will be limited until next spring. However, recreational amenities such as Sunset Park, Sunset Pool, and Sunset Golf Course will remain operational throughout the construction period. While two-way traffic will still be permitted, the existing westbound lane will remain closed, and the new traffic arrangement will remain in effect until the completion of the project in spring next year.

The Colorado Department of Transportation has announced plans to enhance safety and optimize traffic flow at the junction of U.S. 287 and Colo. 52 in Boulder County. Commuters should anticipate temporary closures of the left lanes on both U.S. 287 and Colo. 52 during daylight hours near the intersection. Additionally, the right-turn lanes in all directions will be completely shut down until further updates are provided. Nevertheless, regular access to the roads, local businesses, and residential entrances will be preserved. The improvement project is slated to conclude in October.

The Colo. 170 culvert replacement project is set to commence on Monday, starting with the replacement of a culvert with wing walls underneath the road. Additionally, there will be excavation and patching of asphalt along the highway. The work will generally occur from Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., at the intersection. To facilitate the construction, single lane closures and shoulder closures will be implemented along Colo. 170 and Marshall Road, with traffic signals being used for 24-hour single lane closures. It is recommended to use alternative routes along U.S. 36. The project is anticipated to be finished by November.

• Revamping of Longmont Dam Road bridge: The restoration work on the second bridge spanning over N. St. Vrain Creek on Longmont Dam Road will recommence in September. Anticipate lane closures during the daytime on weekdays near the bridge. Lengthier waits might occur when the construction equipment is shifted within the project site.

• Cleanliness Road construction initiative: Relaying the pipes at Foothills Reservoir will commence on Monday, necessitating the complete closure of the road until December.

• Replacement of water line on the left side: The water district on the left side is in the process of putting in a brand new water line on North 63rd Street. To ensure a safe installation, certain portions of 63rd Street between Niwot and Monarch roads will be temporarily closed on different occasions. These closures are anticipated to remain in effect until 2023.

• The WCR 44 road has been shut down, running from the southbound lanes of U.S. 85 to WCR 33.

• Road preservation initiative: Repairing with milling and resurfacing will take place in Tipple Parkway, spanning from Colorado Boulevard to Ridgeway Boulevard. Furthermore, Downtown Frederick, Morningside Estates, and other locations deemed as requiring attention will also undergo these pavement improvements.

From Wednesday onwards, the QuikTrip project will commence the construction of a makeshift road adjacent to Foster Ridge Drive. This is being done to prepare for the upcoming closure of both Foster Ridge Drive and Highland Drive. During this time, neighboring properties can be accessed via the newly created temporary road.

• Repairing Asphalt: Construction workers will start repairing asphalt in the downtown area of Mead, focusing on Main Street, Dillingham Avenue, Fairbairn Avenue, Palmer Avenue, and Fifth Street. Once these asphalt patches are finished, the workers will move on to the commercial district, specifically WCR 32 (east of I-25), WCR 9.5, WCR 28, and Third Street (south of Welker Avenue). Please note that all road maintenance activities are weather-dependent. The entire project is expected to take around four weeks to be fully completed.

• Filling and coat treatment: Filling cracks and applying slurry will start in the Hunters Cove area. Traffic signs and workers directing traffic will be in place during this road maintenance. However, please note that all street repairs are subject to weather conditions.

Construction work will be taking place on Briggs Street near the Edward Jones Investment Building and the intersection of Wells Street and Briggs Street. They will be digging up a section of Briggs Street to install a new irrigation meter vault and backflow preventer. The sidewalk in the southwest corner of the intersection will also be affected. Some of the sidewalk will be removed and replaced with new concrete. The construction work will only be taking place on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Outside of these hours, the road and sidewalk will be open as usual. The project is expected to be finished by September 20th.

• Restoring concrete: We have scheduled concrete restoration work to be done on Erie Parkway, Countyline Road, and in the Canyon Creek areas. This work will continue until September 15, but it is dependent on weather conditions. Our dedicated crews will be actively working from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day at different spots throughout the community. Our primary objective is to enhance sidewalks, upgrade curbs, and carry out essential maintenance duties. Please note that there may be temporary lane closures, limited parking, and the typical construction noise during this period.
