Quand le prix de l’essence permet de ralentir l’inflation - CKAJ
18 Jul 2023
In June, the inflation rate in Canada was 2.8%, as measured by the consumer price index, compared to May's rate of 3.4%. The decrease in gas prices is thought to have played a significant role in this slowdown, according to Statistics Canada.
The overall inflation rate, excluding gas prices, stands at 4% in June, compared to a rate of 4.4% in May. However, the overall inflation in the Canadian economy in June is driven by the rise in grocery prices, which is at 9.1%, along with an increase in mortgage interest costs.
The Bank of Canada hopes for inflation to hover around 3% next year and achieve its 2% target by the first half of 2025.
