The United Conservative government in Alberta has decided to temporarily halt the approval of any major renewable energy projects.

The government announced today that, starting now, it will no longer grant approval to any wind or solar power projects exceeding one megawatt.

Nathan Neudorf, the minister responsible for ensuring things are affordable and available to everyone, explains that this decision has been made after taking into account rural residents' worries regarding the use of farming land for development, the impact on the visual appeal of the area, the safety measures required to restore the land, and the dependability of the system.

The narrative carries on beneath the advertisement.

Paul McLaughlin, representing Rural Municipalities Alberta, is enthusiastic about this decision, as his organization desires an endorsement procedure that considers the concerns of the local community.

The province of Alberta has taken a prominent role in producing renewable energy, accounting for 17 percent of its electricity supply in 2022.

The Alberta Utilities Commission is currently examining 15 projects related to renewables, thermal energy, and energy storage.
